[1]  Comparison of speed control of brushless DC motor using fuzzy logic controller system

    and closed loop system

This paper presents a design and implementation of speed control scheme of brushless direct current (BLDC) motor drive using Fuzzy Logic controller and performance of motor is compared with closed loop control. The brushless dc motors possess properties like, efficiency, reliability, high speed, less noise, smaller size and low maintenance. They are widely used in applications such as defence industries, robotics, tractions, computers etc. This motor cannot be controlled efficiently using conventional (PID) controller due to its nonlinear characteristics. To overcome this, we have developed Fuzzy Logic controller with a Triangular membership function. The mathematical model ofa three phase star connected BLDC motor is derived. The input to the fuzzy logic controller is Error (E) & Change in Error (first derivative of error) with respect to time. In this thesis, transient and steady state performances of BLDCM are evaluated using the controller. The effectiveness of the Fuzzy controller is verified by developing simulation model in Matlab/ Simulink software. The simulation results show that the proposed Fuzzy Logic controller (FLC) produce significant improvement in speed control performance and load disturbance variations compared to closed loop. Fuzzy logic introduced here suppresses the chattering and enhances the robustness of the control.

[2]  Analysis on power quality improvement for non linear loads by harmonic reduction

      using different techniques

Power Quality improvement always becomes a challenge for power system engineers.. Harmonics play significant role in deteriorating quality of power. Harmonic distortion in electric distribution system is increasingly growing due to the widespread use of nonlinear loads in industries such as variable Speed Drives. Large considerations of such loads raise harmonic voltage and currents in an electrical system to unacceptable high levels that can adversely affect the system. IEEE standards have defined limits for harmonic voltages and harmonic currents. Various power filters have been considered a potential candidate to bring these harmonic distortions within the IEEE limits. In this paper Performance analysis of Shunt active power filter (SAPF) is analysed for various types of non-linear loads. Among the various control schemes available for SAPF, indirect current control scheme is used here. A voltage source inverter with pulse width modulation (PWM) is employed to form the Active Power Filter. A vector controlled variable Speed Drive is considered as nonlinear load on ac mains for the elimination of harmonics by the proposed schemes. MATLAB model of the various schemes are simulated and obtained results are studied and compared.

[3]  A review on the optimization of process parameters in turning operation

The purpose of this research paper is to make an attempt to review the research work which has been done previously on the turning operation for the required quality characteristics of material removal rate and surface roughness. There are various optimization techniques which have been employed to optimize the process variables or parameters.

[4]  Examination of fiber link failure in optical WDM network

Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks are extremely reliable and secure. Here chance of trapping the data and crosstalk is very low. It also can recover from net failure in a very efficient manner. There is provision for rerouting a path between a source-destination node pair. So in case of link failure we will not lose any data. In this work, different conditions of link failure in 8-node duel ring WDM Optical network have been compared as far as performance is concerned on same traffic metric. We find no data loss in any condition and we have got approximately similar performances, when compared on different parameters, in any condition of link failure, which we taken in consideration. Duel ring WDM Optical Network is best in particular practical condition, to perform operation on the network, even in case of link failure in the Network. An eight node topology, have been designed, to make examination on survival of the WDM Optical Network.
